Mendus, Grace C.
Kittanning

Grace C. Mendus, of Kittanning, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Butler to the late Arthur and Clara (Shuler) Trimbur and also was predeceased by her husband, Alfred F. Mendus, who died Dec. 15, 1991. Grace was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. She was a teacher's aide for the ARIN Intermediate School District, an antique dealer, an avid bridge player and a world traveler. Her hearty zest for living characterized her life. Her sharp mind, colorful stories and passion for living will be greatly missed. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Grace was one of 13 siblings. She is survived by sons Kevin Mendus and wife Carolyn, of Mars, Kreg Mendus and wife Kathy Mendus-Dlugos, of Greensburg, and Brennan Mendus and wife Cindy, of Castle Rock, Colo.; daughter Kathleen Strickland and husband Eric, of Carbondale, Colo.; seven grandchildren; a brother, and six sisters. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the BAUER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, where a liturgical service will be at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Emil Payer officiating. Interment will be in Kittanning Cemetery, Rayburn Township, Armstrong County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Kittanning Library, 280 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning, PA 16201 or the Mt. Alvernia Motherhouse, 146 Hawthorne Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15209.
