      Thomas Lane Ashcom Jr. Ex-New Wilmington man was hospital manager

      BRYN MAWR, Pa. Thomas Lane Ashcom Jr., 3500 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, Pa., formerly of New Wilmington, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2006, in Bryn Mawr Hospital. He was 85. Mr. Ashcom was born April 1, 1920, in Jeannette, Pa., to Thomas Ashcom, president of New Wilmington Bank; and Estella Rhodes Ashcom. A graduate of Wilmington High School, he was a 1941 alumnus of Westminster College, New Wilmington. Mr. Ashcom retired as manager of the Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia. He was a member of New Wilmington United Methodist Church and AARP, a retired person's organization. Until his death, Tom kept the family home on Park Street in New Wilmington, where he would spend time in the summers. Surviving are a niece, Bonnie Ashcom, Houston; and two nephews, James Ashcom and Thomas Ashcom locations unknown. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Ashcom. Memorial contributions may be made to New Wilmington United Methodist Church, 125 S. Mercer St., New Wilmington 16142.

Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington. Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday (3-30-06) in the funeral home with the Rev. Barbara Moore, pastor of Kings Chapel Church, New Castle, officiating. Interment: Fair Oaks Cemetery, New Wilmington.
