John M. Trimbur , 85, of Modesto died Monday at Doctors Medical Center.Â
Mr. Trimbur was born in San Francisco on Dec. 9, 1920 and had lived in Modesto since 1948. He was an attorney for 45 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. He was a member of the American Bar Association, American Juris Prudence Society, Alpha Sigma Nu, Phi Alpha Delta, Del Rio Golf & Country Club, Young At Heart, Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree, Serra Club, S.I.R.S., and past President of the Stanislaus County Bar Association. He was a 1942 graduate of the University of San Francisco and received a Bachelor of Science degree. He attended the University of San Francisco School of Law from 1946-48. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and took part in the Normandy invasion. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of lieutenant.Â
He is survived by his wife, Laura Trimbur of Modesto; children, John Trimbur Jr. of Cranston, R.I., and Catherine Trimbur of Berkeley; stepdaughter, Jeanette Friedman of New York; and five grandchildren and one stepgrandchild and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice Trimbur .Â
Visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs, with the rosary at 6 p.m. A Mass will be at 11:15 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.Â
