- The following obituary was published in The Valley News Dispatch on February 22, 2005:
Lee R. Tarr
01/23/1937-02/08/2005
Lee R. "Bobby" Tarr, 68, of Boni Fay, Fla., formerly of Logans Ferry, died Tuesday (Feb. 8, 2005) in Dothan, Ala.
He was born Jan. 23, 1937, to the late Alexander Robinson and Wanda Johnson Tarr.
A graduate of Plum High School, he was a Naval hospital corpsman at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Lee was retired from Delta Airlines. A member and deacon of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Boni Fay, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, golfing, and was a Civil War buff.
Lee is survived by his wife, Dixie Stump Tarr; 6 daughters, Tammy (Richard) Slay, Robin (Chris) Colby and Donna Ellis, all of Fla., Michelle Ellis of Va., Sherry Tarr of Ill., and Diane Tarr of Mass.; a son, George (Katrina) Ellis of Va; three sisters, Mary (Donald) Welsh of Arnold, Helene (Walter) Alworth of Lower Burrell and Wanda (Glenn) Claypool of Kittanning; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
Burial was at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
NOTE: It is presumed that Donna, Michelle and George Ellis, who are named in Lee's obituary, were his wife Dixie's children from a prior marriage. This needs to be confirmed.
