Helene J. (Tarr) Alworth, 78, of Lower Burrell, died Sunday, May 28, 2017. Helene was born April 16, 1939, in New Kensington, daughter of the late Bob and Wanda (Johnson) Tarr. She was the loving wife of Walter J.; mother of Brad A. (the late Barbara) Tarr, Brian K. Alworth and Lori Lea Lakatos; sister of Wanda Claypool and the late Mary Beth Welsh and Lee Robinson (Bobbie) Tarr; beloved grandmother of Ashley and Amanda Tarr and Trenton and Camdyn Lakatos; and great-grandmother of Elizabeth Barbara and Carlotte Christine. Helene was a member of Braeburn United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer of the Women of BUMC. She also served as a trustee for the women's auxiliary for several years. Besides spending time with her grandchildren, she enjoyed bingo, card playing with family and cooking all at one time. Family and friends welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at RJ SLATER IV FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington (724-335-0100), where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with interment to follow in Greenwood Memorial Park. www.rjslater.com.
