  • Notes
    • The following obituary was published in The Ligonier Echo on April 3, 1889:

Obituary. REBECCA B. ASHCHOM,, wife of Wm. Ashcom, was born iu the city of Baltimore and died March 29, 1889, in Ligonier, in the 68th year of her age. She gave her heart to God and united with the Methodist Episcopal church in 1840, during services held by Rev. D. L. Dempsy,, in the old church, which stood at the upper end of the old cemetery, near by the location of which her precious dust will sleep the rolling years away. The deceased had been for almost fifty years a member of the church. She was true und faithful in all her life's relations, a cheerful toiler in the vineyard of the Lord.

Her last illness was protracted and full of suffering, but she bore it all with calm resignation to tho will of God, and sweetly fell asleep in Jesus. She leaves many loved ones to mourn, but they cherish a blessed hope of meeting her in the home of the saved.

      W.
