Notes

Rober enlisted in the Army, Medical Corps, VA # 10251475, RA # 6256729. He was a Japanese Prisoner of War for 3 years (1942-1945). He was captured at Corregidor, Malinta Tunnel, and repatriated from Camp Keijo Korea 37-126.

He wrote a book entitled "I Solemnly Swear" (1957), describing his personal and military history. After appearing on television to promote his book, the man who saved his life, Charles P. Towne, and "Brownie," as he calls him, were reunited on television on Oct 9, 1957 in Tacoma, Washington.
