George was born in Stillwater, Minnesota on Sep 22, 1858, was one of two sons of Bradford Wilson Bixby, who was born in Massachusetts (or Coopers Plains, Steuben, New York), and his wife, Susan Jane (Clarke) Bixby, who was born in Maine.
The other was Tams Bixby, born on Dec 12, 1854, at Staunton, Virginia.
On Nov 5, 1892 in Livingston, Montana, George married Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Morris) Hines, a widow with two children: Mrs. W. P. [Addie] Brown of Minneapolis and Floyd Hines of Wagoner, Oklahoma, both born in Valparaiso, Indiana. George and Lizzie had five children: Bradford M. Bixby, Mrs. C. E. [Ostera E.] Flanigan, Mrs. Read [Helen Mary] Bilbruck, Mrs. Sherman [Esther Louise] Cross, Mrs. Henry [Georgia Pat] De Coux.
George was a clerk and accountant for several government and private businesses and later was an Indian agent.

George Bixby, 79, Pioneer Muskogeean, Dies in California
Was Brother of Late Tams Bixby And Served as Accountant On Daily Phoenix
George Bixby, 79, former Muskogee resident and & brother of the late Tams Bixby, pioneer owner and publisher of the Muskogee Daily Phoenix, died yesterday in San Francisco at the home of a daughter, Mrs. George [misspelled, supposed to be Georgia] DeÂCoux, according to word received here.
Mr. Bixby, an expert accountant, left Muskogee in 1923 and went to California a year after the death of his wife, the former Mrs. Elizabeth Hines.
He was employed as an accountant in several Muskogee firms, including the Daily Phoenix. In 1900 he was one of five employees who served under the late J. Blair Shoenfeld, at that the time United States Indian agent here. Others of the five were Bob Taylor, J. Fenterss Wisdom, Mrs. Blanch Oppenheim and Lyman K. Lane.
Mr. Bixby war born in Red Wing, Minn., the son of the late Bradford and Susan Clark Bixby, and was of a pioneer New England family.
A stepson, Floyd Hines, an employe (sic) in the county treasurer's office, lives in Fort Gibson. Other survivors include four daughters: Mrs. DeCoux, Mrs. Ostara Flannigan [or Flanagan], of San Francisco, and Mrs. Esther Cross, at Mexia, Texas, and Mrs. Helen Bilbrouck, of San Francisco.
Funeral services, yet unannounced, will be held In San Francisco and burial will be there.
