    • According to an article in The Pittsburgh Press on January 5, 1942, Roy was appointed Chief Deputy Coroner of Allegheny County by newly elected Cornorner Dr. William D. McClelland on January 4. Prior to that Roy was for six years secretary to Common Pleas Court Judge Ralph H. Smith and before that secretary to County Commissioner Joseph G. Armstrong.
