      John Wesley Pinkerton 
      Died: Sunday, March 3, 2002 
      Age: 81

      John Wesley Pinkerton, 81, of Wilmington, died Sunday (March 3, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. His wife, Grace Pinkerton of Wilmington, survives. They were married June 9, 1956, in Pikeville, Ky.

      Mr. Pinkerton was born July 26, 1920, in Van Lear, Ky., son of the late John Wesley and Emma Chandler Pinkerton. He was a member of the Wilmington Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder. He was also a member of the Van Lear, Ky., Masonic Lodge, where he had received his 50-year pin. He was also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cincinnati. He received a degree in education from the University of Kentucky, and a library science degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He had worked for Wilmington College as a cataolguer in the library.

      In addition to his wife, he is survived by a grandson, Charles William (Kristina) Bayer of Indianapolis, Ind.
      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joycelyn Lorraine Busler; two brothers, Charles Pinkerton and Dallas Pinkerton; and a sister, Charlene Baldridge.

      Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 97 W. Locust St., Wilmington, Dr. G. David Hawley officiating, with interment in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of the services Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at the Wilmington Presbyterian Church, 840 Timber Glen Drive, Wilmington, 45177.
