Ralph W. Kaufmann
Ralph W. Kaufmann, 87, 675 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA, died after facing an extended illness with humor and dignity, at Lancaster General Hospital on Thursday, April 14, 2011. The staff at Willow Valley will fondly remember Ralph because of his funny comments and helpfulness.
Born in Winterthur, Switzerland, he was the husband of the late Dorothy P. "Dottie" Pardoe Kaufmann, who was raised in Johnstown, PA and died on February 9, 2010. He was the son of the late Jacques H. and Gertrud H. Achtnich Kaufmann.
Ralph was a European Sales Director for Chicopee Mills, at the time a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Lancaster; Lancaster South Rotary Club Member and was previously active in Switzerland with the Rotary Club; enjoyed sailing, skiing, reading, and will be remembered by many for his and Dottie's philanthropic generosity.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Larry G., husband of Marilou Kaufmann, Gastonia, NC and Roger Edward, husband of Kate Kaufmann, Oberrieden, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Life Celebration Memorial Service at St. James Episcopal Church, corner of North Duke and Orange Streets, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. with The Rev. David Peck officiating. Private interment will take place at the Memorial Garden of St. James Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends at The Hamilton Club, 106 E. Orange Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 following the private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and Related Disorders, South Central Pennsylvania Chapter, 2001 N. Front Street, Bldg. 2, Suite 321, Harrisburg, PA 17102.
