According to the 1940 census, William was living with his mother on Campus Street, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in 1920. He is shown to be single.
According to his WW II draft registration card, dated 1942, William was living with his mother at 3546 Campus Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1942. He was employed by Foundry Equipment Company, located in the Oliver Building in Pittsburgh.
The following obituary was published in the March 25, 1953 edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
WILLIAM C. EDGAR
Services for William C. Edgar, who died Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Edward T. Daugherty Funeral Home, 366 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue. Mr. Edgar, who was visiting in Florida, lived at 743 Harden Drive, North Hills Estates. A civil engineer, he was a graduate of Allegheny High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, past master of Bellevue Lodge, No. 530, F. & A. M., a member of the Pennsylvania Consistory, and the America Society of Civil Engineers. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Charlotte Critchlow Edgar; two sisters, Mrs. Percy W. Carrington of McKeesport, and Mrs. David H. Evans, of New Kensington, and a brother, Robert F. Edgar. Friends are being received at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Dale Cemetery.
