The following obituary was published in The Pittsburgh Press on October 8, 1957:
GRIFFITHS--On Monday, Oct. 7, 1957, at 1:20 a.m., Irene Downey Stolte Griffiths, of 721 Boggs Avel., wife of the late Robert E. Griffiths, mother of Mrs. Rose Xavier of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Sarah Rodoker and Mrs. Mary O'Keefe; also survived by 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends received at the parlors of Wm. Slater & Sons, Virginia Ave. and Kearsarge St., Mr. Washington, until 9:15 a.m. Thursday, October 10. Requiem high mass at St. Justin's Church at 10 a.m.
