On Monday, December 18, 2006, of Sherwood Oaks. Mother of Nancy Claire (Fred) Pickton, Deborah Kathryn (Bruce) Cain; Nana of five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be Thursday 2pm at Sherwood Oaks. Contributions to Western PA School for the Blind Children, 201 N. Bellefield Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Nancy Hards Ashcom, 87, a 16-year resident of Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006. She was born in Pittsburgh to the late George and Claire Hards and was an active member of Alpha Chi Omega for most of her life. Mrs. Ashcom attended Allegheny College, had a state-appointed position with the Department of Labor and Industry under Gov. William Scranton, was a Republican committeewoman and worked on Sen. John Heinz's campaign. Best mother to daughters Nancy Claire (Fred) Pickton and Deborah Kathryn (Bruce) Cain. Loving Nana to Benjamin (Torie), Stephanie (Ian), Matthew (Melissa), Abigail (Corey) and David. Great-grandmother to Laurel, Addyson, Samuel, Neil, Luke and Claire. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sherwood Oaks. Contributions may be made to the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children, 201 N. Bellefield Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
