- Michael C. Henkel started working at the Westmoreland County Juvenile Detention Center in 1978 and a year later he accepted a teaching position there. In 1982, he began serving as an Associate Pastor at a local church and held both positions for the next ten years. In 1990, Mike founded of the Outside In School of Experiential Education, an outdoor adventure, residential treatment program for boys, which sits on 140 acres of land two miles off Route 711 in Ligonier and Fairfield townships.
