- According to the February 22, 1944 edition of the The Pittsburgh Press, George was wounded in action in WW II at Cape Gloucester, New Britain. His injuries were minor.

George Lee Stolte

George Lee Stolte of Vichy, Missouri was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on August 20, 1923 to Walter and Mabel (Williams) Stolte and passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at his home at the age of 91 years.

George was united in marriage to Helen (Tandler) Stolte on March 25, 1945 and to this union two children were born. After retiring from his career as a auto mechanic, George and Helen decided to make their home in Vichy, Missouri, where they would spend the next 20 plus years. George was a very
private person, but those that knew him appreciated his kindness and his interest in the Vichy community. He enjoyed reading, and watching old war movies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mabel Stole; his wife, Helen in March of 2011; and son, Norman Stolte. He is survived by his daughter, Roselia Hoyt and husband Tom of Lostan, Illinois; brother, Jack Stolte of Pennsylvania; special friends Dennis and Joyce Tipton of Vichy, Missouri; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor Gary Bartle officiating.

Interment was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Vichy, Missouri.
