- The following biographical sketch was published in the AMERICAN BLUE BOOK of BIOGRAPHY, MEN OF 1912 (1913):
"Lauder, William, general manager of the Colonial Iron Company, was born in Scotland, Pa., Jan. 28, 1849. He is a son of James Lauder and Mary (Richardson) Lauder. He was educated in the public schools of Jersey City and school in Scotland. He married in Hopewell, Pa., July 29, Mary Ashcom, and they have six children: Mary, Edith, Helen, Edna, William and Robert. Mr. Lauder for over thirty years has been the general manager of the Colonial Iron Company and preceding companies at Riddlesburg. He was presidential elector for Roosevelt in 1904, is a Republican in politics and a Methodist in his church relations. He has been school director for twenty-five years and was appointed on the commission to revise and frame a new educational code for Pennsylvania by Gov. Stuart. He is a Mason and Shriner, and resides in Riddlesburg, Pa."
According to William's obituary, which was published in the September 24, 1920 edition of the Bedford Gazette, William was born January 24, 1849, was married on July 29, 1874 and died on September 17, 1920. He had five children: Mrs. L.B. Shaw of Harrisburg, Mrs. Archie Rice and Fred Gage of Philadelphia, Miss Edna at home, William Jr. in Japan and Robert J. of Midian Kansas.
