- In 1884, James was a cook for W.A. Mather in Minneapolis, boarding at 305-1/2 Washington Ave. S. In 1887, he was a bookkeeper at the Minneapolis Hospital. In 1888, James was a bookkeeper for the American Hospital Aid Assn. In 1889, James was a bookkeeper for St. Anthony Hospital. In 1890, James was a bookkeeper for the National Protective Assn.
In July 1895, according to newspaper accounts, James became very ill. In 1896, James was sent off to the Longcliffe Mental Asylum [Northern Indiana State Hospital for the Insane] in Logansport, Indiana.
Cass County, Indiana vital records index shows a James T. Morris aged 45 dying there on October 1,1897. His death certificate states that he died of Enteritis & Melancholia. He was buried in Kirkland, Illinois. If buried in Kirkland, he should have been buried with his brother's family in Maple Cemetery, but Kirkland cemeteries show no tombstone or record of burial.
