Notes |
- Leo Carroll McCurdy "Carroll" was born on 15 October 1918 in Glendale, California. He died from a brain tumor in July 1976.
Carroll served in WWII as an Army Air Force pilot. There are two flight school books, one from Yuma, Arizona and one from Merced Air Force base in Santa Ana, CA. Aviation history, WWII and some humorous cartoon drawings surround pictures of the cadets and planes.
Colleen Northrup has his Pilot Qualification record, as well as the Eagle patch from his aviator jacket. The Eagle is carrying a bomb. There are a number of pictures (in his book) from Northern Africa that he took including military marches in Casablanca and riders on camels running across the desert. These small photos are wonderful representations of history.
Colleen Northrup has Carroll's collection of baseball cards and memorabilia as well.
Carroll married Grace Christianson who was one of Disney's first animation artists.
They never had children.
