      The following obituary was published in the Everett Press (Everett, Pennsylvania) on September 22, 1939:

      Former Everett Resident Was Active In Community Affairs

      Mrs. Benjamin F. Ashcom died on Sunday, September, 17 at the home of her sister, Mrs. David Prosser, in Bedford. A member of one of Bedford's oldest families, she as the daughter of Jeremiah K. and Mary (Cessna) Bowles. She was educated in the Bedford public schools and at Birmingham Academy.

      In 1893 she was united in marriage with Benjamin F. Ashcom of Everett. A life-long member of the Presbyterian Church, she was for many years the organist of the Everett congregation.

      During the World War Mrs. Ashcom was active in the organization and work of the Emergency Aid, and later of the Red Cross. For several years, until ill health put an end to her public activities, she was a member of the Mother's Assistance Board of Bedford County. Mrs. Ashcom is survived by her husband, one sister of Beford, one son, Benjamin B. Ashcom, and two grandchildren, of Detroit, Michigan.

      Funeral services were held at her late residence on Wednesday with the Rev. R. S. Caldwlll officiating. Interment was in the Bedford cemetery.
