      Thomas L. Stockwell known to everyone who loved him as Tommy, 57, of Greeley, Colorado died Monday, June 8, 2009 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado.

      He was born to Frank and Joan (Snell) Stockwell in Fullerton, California on August 18, 1951. He graduated from Chino High School in 1969. Tommy was a Viet Nam Veteran serving in the US Army where he received 3 Bronze Stars. After being honorably discharged in 1973 he became a cabinet maker for many years. He worked for many cabinet shops in the Greeley area as well as in Denver, California and Nevada.

      He was married Nina Kuntz in 1969 and then was divorced. He later married Judy (Scott) Stewart and in 1992 married Gayle (Miller) Carlson. He has spent the last 17 years with Gayle, his best fishing partner.

      Tommy’s health started to decline and they moved to Oregon for 8 years and found a whole new way of enjoying life. In those 8 years he learned how to make musical instruments. He loved working with his hands, enjoyed fishing and hunting and considered himself a “Mountain Man”.” Tommy was a member of VFW Post 6624 in Evans, Colorado and VFW Post 3440 in Bandon, Oregon.

      Survivors are his wife, Gayle; daughter, Dawn (Sean) Mullen; sons, Aric (Katie) Stockwell of Murrieta, California, Travis Wilmot and fiancé Kristy of Taos, New Mexico, Chad Stockwell of California; his mother and stepfather Joan and Jim Snell of Hemet, California; brother, Micki (Penny) Stockwell of Apple Valley, California; mother-in-law, Ann Miller of Kersey, Colorado; uncle, Jon Haug, of Apple Valley, California; sister-in-law, Julie (LeRoy) Dentilinger of Gill, Colorado; brother-in-laws, Rusty (Gail) Miller and Blaise Miller all of Kersey; grandchildren, Heather, Patrik, Hannah, Alana, Hudson, Kenlyn Tanner, and Skylar. He is also survived by nieces, Denise, Jennifer, and Jayne; nephews, David, Jesse, Nathan, and Nicolaus; cousins; aunts; uncles; and many friends in Oregon.

      Tommy is proceded in death by his father, Frank Stockwell; aunt, Donna Haug; two uncles and a baby daughter.

      Military Honors by the US Army will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Veterans Memorial at Bittersweet Park, 16th Street and 35th Avenue, Greeley. A reception and celebration of Tommy’s life will be held at Tommy and Gayle’s home following the Military Honors. Tommy will take one more adventure to Red Feathers Lake, Big Bear Lake in California, the Colorado River and then to the beautiful Pacific Ocean.
