Friedrich's daughter, Louisa's, birth certificate says that Mr. Dauenhauer was born in Rheinpfalz, Germany. Specifically, Freidrich was born in the town of Nothweiler, a picturesque town of 200 inhabitants today, located near the French border.
Rheinpfalz mainly consisted of the Palatinate, the southwest corner (boarder to the Alsace-region of France) of Rhineland-Palatinate today. In 1850 the Palatinate belonged to the Bavarian kingdom.
Friedrich was a cabinetmaker.
