- According to his wife, Sally, John's parents did not know they were going to have twins and when they were born, they simply reversed the names--John Houston and Houston John. John attended Avalon High School, Duff's Business School and the University of Pittsburgh. He worked at USX, the Pittsburgh Science Center and the Pittsburgh Visitors Bureau. He attended Ben Avon Presbyterian Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. John lived at 614 Semple Ave., Pittsburgh, PA and 994 Norwood Ave., Pittsburgh, PA. In 2013, Jack and Sally moved to Masonic Village in Sewickley, Pennsylvania.

WOODBURN
JOHN HOUSTON "JACK"
Age 83, formerly of Avalon and Kilbuck, peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Beloved husband of Sarah (Stout) Woodburn; loving father of Linda (Randy) Reynolds and Mary Ann (Darren) Macioce; grandfather of Michael Macioce, Nicholas Macioce, Lauren Reynolds, Christine Reynolds and Matthew Reynolds; brother of the late Houston "Bud" Woodburn and the late Marion Rohaus. Jack will also be fondly remembered by his nephews, Mark Woodburn, M.D., Michael Rohaus, Gregory Rohaus and Robert Rohaus; and his many friends. Jack worked at U.S. Steel for more than 30 years and later the Pittsburgh Convention Bureau. He also proudly served in the U.S. Navy and survived the USS Bennington disaster in 1954. Beside spending time with his family, Jack's favorite hobbies were playing his harmonica, fishing, watching the Steelers, amusement parks, traveling and vacationing in Rehoboth Beach. He even learned to parachute at the age of 72. Funeral service will be private.
