    • Michael earned a B. A. degree in Strassburg, France in 1576, an M.A. degree in in Wittenberg, Germany in 1584 and a Th. D. degree from the University of Basel, Switzerland in 1601. He was court preacher and later general superintendant of churches in Zweibruecken, Germany. He wrote a number of books in Latin and German and was widely known as a forceful preacher. He delivered sermons at the funerals of nobles, clergymen and other public figures.

      Michael and his wife had 17 children, a number of whom achieved prominence.
