Robert L. Hagerich Sr.
HAGERICH – Robert L. Sr., 92, Upper Yoder Township, died June 2, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 14, 1917, in Johnstown, son of the late William H. and Annie (McCreary) Hagerich. Preceded in death by brothers: William, Jay and Ray; and sisters, Helen Hagerich and Janet Emmett. Survived by loving wife, the former Jean E. Ashcom; son, Robert L. Hagerich Jr., married to the former Patricia Coltman, Johnstown; and daughters, Carol Bowles, Kentucky; and Dee, married to Richard Gretok, State College. Also survived by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Robert was a graduate of Southmont High School, worked for Bethlehem Steel Corp. and was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was an owner of Hagerich and Son Realty. His service to education included teaching appraisal principle and practice at the Pennsylvania State University and was past president of the Ferndale Area School Board and a member of the Cambria County Board of Education. Mr. Hagerich also had served on the boards of Cambria County Tax Appeal Board, Red Cross, former Mercy Hospital, former Johnstown Bank and Trust and Cambria County Association of the Blind, where he served as president. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., West Hills, 921 Menoher Blvd. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Westmont Presbyterian Church, 601 Luzerne St., the Rev. Dr. Doug Stevens, officiating. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cambria County Association for the Blind in Robert’s memory.
