      The following obituary was published in the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat on June 20, 1985, and transcribed and posted on rootsweb.com:

      ASHCOM--Mrs. Laura B., 86, 787 Goucher Street, died June 19, 1985 at home. Born Nov 3, 1898, in Johnstown, daughter of late Henry and Almeda (Griffith) Rose. Preceded in death by husband, James W.; daughter, Shirley Freddes; brother, Walter, and sister Edith Ashcom. Survived by five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; son in law Frank Freddes, Bradenton, Fla; and sister in law Winifred Evans; niece Mrs. Jean Hagerich and nephew, James Evans all of Johnstown. Member of Westmont Presbyterian Church. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Thursday at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc where service will be held at 1pm Friday, the Rev Larry Chottiner. Interment, Grandveiw Cemetery.
