- The following obituary was published in the May 31, 1967 edition of Johnstown Tribune-Democrat (at page 50):
ASHCOM - Mrs. Annie, 94, 146 Vaughn Street, died afternoon of May 29, 1967, at Neilcliff Manor. Born Dec. 27, 1872, in Jackson Township, daughter of William and Hannah (KIEFER) VARNER. Survived by son, James W., 2367 Woodcrest Drive, and daughter, Winifred M., wife of Elias EVANS, 146 Vaughn Street; also 2 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Longtime active and oldest member of Cooper Avenue Methodist Church. Survivor of Johnstown Flood of 1889, in which she lost 5 sisters. Service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at William T. Hindman Funeral Home, 146 Chandler Avenue, the Rev. Fred S. Bowes. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.
