- Joseph graduated in June 1948 from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. degree. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1951. From 1946 to 1947 he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and from 1950 to 1953 he served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
