    • The following obituary was published in the Inidanapolis Star on November 28, 2006:

      Jane H. Simpson, 86, Brownsburg, died Nov. 26, 2006. Born to George James Holsinger and Florence Myrtle Ashcom Holsinger on June 7, 1920, the first baby born at the "new" Lee Hospital. She graduated from Johnstown (PA) High School in 1938. She was president of the girls Rifle Club and a member of the NRA. She graduated from training as a registered nurse in 1942 from Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, and worked as an emergency room supervisor after graduation. She married Harold Clyde "Tip" Simpson on March 6, 1943, who preceded her in death. After a brief tour of duty with "Tip" during WWII in Canada, they moved to Johnstown, PA. She followed Tip in his career with JC Penney to Alexandria, VA, Shamokin, PA, where he became manager, Scranton, PA, Springfield MA, and Richmond, IN. She taught Sunday School from age 12 to the early 1980s. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for 10 years in Long Meadow, MA and Richmond, IN. She was president of the UMW in Springfield, MA, and Richmond, IN and served as a volunteer for PTO while her daughters were growing up. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Brownsburg, and of Central United Methodist Church, Richmond, and a charter member of the Christian Women's Fellowship. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Fri. Dec. 1, 2006 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with visitation there from 3 to 7 p.m. Thurs. Nov. 30. Survivors include daughters, Jane Ann Porter, Brownsburg, and Deborah Barnhizer, Oaktown, IN; sister, Emma Dimit, and two grandchildren. Contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church Building fund or Brownsburg Library large print book fund.
