Helser Funeral Is Held at Shiocton
Service are Conducted For Elderly Victim of Accident at Home
Shiocton--Funeral services for Mrs. Rhena Arvilla Helser, 81, whose death occurred at her home Saturday evening were conducted from the Sawyer Funeral home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. Herbert Kelly, pastor of the Congregational church.
"In the Sweet By and By" and "Safe In the Arms of Jesus" were sung by Mrs. Charles Miller and Mrs. Sherman Payton, accompanied by Mrs. Wilford Spoehr.
Burial was made in the Bovina cemetery.
Bearers included six grandsons, Clifford Nelson, Merle Nelson, Lyle Helser, Clarence Helser, Bernard Helser and Leslie Helser.
Rhena Arvilla Layman, daughter of Samuel and Maria Tyler-Layman was born May 4, 1858, at Manchester, Wayne county, Pa. When a child she moved to the vicinity of Shiocton with her parents. She was united in marriage June 25, 1877, to William C. Helser, who preceded her in death six years ago. Three weeks ago she suffered burns when she fell while carrying a kettle of boiling water and had been confined to her bed until her death.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Della Main, Adams, Neb.; Mrs. Orlo Volentine, Shiocton, and Mrs. Oscar Nelson, Leeman; three sons, Carl Helser, Pelican Lake, and Wilford and Rollie Helser, Shiocton; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral services included: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Helser, Pelican Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Helser, and Mrs. Harold Guth, Rhinelander; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Krueger, Hartford; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Nelson, Clifford and Merle Nelson, Leeman; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fields, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Feavel and daughter Jean, Appleton.
