- According to History of West Virginia and Its People, Volume 3. Charleston, WV: Lewis Historical Publishing Co., 1913, George and Amelia lived in Woodbury, Pennsylvania where George was a miller and general merchant, and also dealt in stock.
In 1842, he built a gristmill at Woodbury, which was destroyed by fire in 1879. He as a burgess of Martinsburg Borough in 1848 and he was a merchangt in Martinsburg in 1850.
George was buried in the Martinsburg Cemetery, but his body was moved to the Everett Cemetery on November 11, 1890.
