      Basist, Robert
      Jan. 22, 1927 - Dec. 9, 2008

Robert "Bob" Basist, 81, Sarasota, formerly of Bermuda, died Dec. 9, 2008.
Bob was a World War II veteran who proudly served in the Army Air Corps. He graduated from New York University, and then completed a master's degree in finance at the University of Arizona.

Bob loved investments, and enjoyed his work as a certified financial planner, certified fund specialist and lifelong investment analyst. He also taught finance at the University of Arizona and in Bermuda, and was much appreciated for his dry wit and practical knowledge by his students.

Bob is survived by Rita, his beloved spouse of 58 years, Dyana and Stacey, his two adoring daughters, his grateful son-in-law Rob, and two remarkable grandchildren, Aza and Sophie. Bob will be forever cherished and remembered by family and friends as a loyal, loving, wise and generous man.

The family will be holding a gathering celebrating Bob's remarkable life at their home on Sunday, Dec. 14, from 3 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TideWell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238, or Planned Parenthood, 2055 Wood St., Suite 110, Sarasota, FL 34237.
