  • Notes
    • The 1930 Census shows Charles, age 31, as widowed, living with (i) his father-in-law, David Miller, also widowed (thus, Charles' wife was also named "Miller") , (ii) Anna Thompson, age 37, his housekeeper, also widowed, (iii) William, age 17, shown as a "son", and (iii) Janet L. Trefts, age 12.

I believe that: (i) Anna is Charles' sister based on her age, (ii) William is Anna's son (his name is written below Anna's name), and (iii) Janet is not related to Charles or Anna, inasmuch as her parents, Herbert and Stella Trefts are shown living two doors down the street. These assumptions have essentially been confirmed.

Charles' and Nina's headstones state "Father" and "Mother", suggesting that they had at least one child. The 1930 Census does not show that Charles had any children (unless my assumption is incorrect, and William is actually the son of Charles and Nina).

Charles cannot be found living in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in the 1940 Census.
