  • Notes
    • Mahlon was the son-in-law of Albert B. Fall, who was Secretary of the Interior. Mahlon became somewhat notoriously involved in the Teapot Dome Scandal by serving as the "bag man" for Fall--collecting bonds from Harry F. Sinclair, who was head of the Mammoth Oil Company as payment for a lease of government oil and gas rights in Wyoming. Fall had given his benefactors reserves estimated to be worth $100,000,000, and he had collected from them $409,000 in cash and bonds. Both Sinclair and Fall served time in prison, in part based on Mahlon's testimony.
