DIED
James Reeder died of old age at the home of his son John on Saturday, May 9th, 1896, and was laid to rest in the Little Vine cemetery on Sunday, May 10.
Deceased was born in the State of Maryland in the year 1814, and was in the 83rd year of his age at the time of his demise. When 12 years of age he moved with his parents to Kentucky, where he resided most of his time till the year 1843, when he was married to Ruann Brents, of Louisville, Ky., and then moved to Ste. Genevieve county, Mo. He professed a hope in Christ while he was in his early manhood and tried to live [as] a faithful Christian all his life. The deceased was married a second time and was the father of 11 children. After the death of his second wife he went to live with his son, John C. Reeder, where he has lived for the past 22 years, till on the 9th of May the Lord send his angels to take him to that one that God prepares for all who are faithful to the end.
Grandpa has entered life eternal,
We shall see him here no more;
One by one we'll join his number,
When our pilgrimage is o'er.
Still he is near us, ever near us,
As we walk life's toilsome way;
Whispering messages from heaven,
Watching lest our fee should stray.
C.V.C.
