Gahring P. Harper
March 31, 1992
Gahring Price Harper, a native of Glyndon who taught school and was a volunteer hospital fund-raiser in West Chester, Pa., died Friday at her home in Bensalem, Pa., of heart failure.
Private services for Mrs. Harper, who was 88, were held Sunday.
She was a graduate of Friends School in Baltimore and, in 1925, of Swarthmore College, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. In the 1940s, she taught at Friends School in West Chester, where she also was a volunteer fund-raiser for the Chester County Hospital. After moving from West Chester to Lancaster, Pa., she was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and the Towne Club.
Her husband of 47 years, John C. Harper Jr., died in 1968; her brother, T. Rowe Price, who headed the investment counseling firm and investment funds that bear his name, died in 1983, and a sister, Mildred P. Moore of Baltimore, died in 1976.
Mrs. Harper is survived by two sons, John C. Harper III of Tiburon, Calif., and James W. Harper of Spring House, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
