- George W. Murie gave 15 May 1883 as Walter's birth date; however, his birth data is given as "May 1884, age 16, Utah" in the 1900 census and in the 1910 census as head of a family, "age 26, md 3 years, born Utah". His wife's name was illegiblein the 1930 census, age 30, b Pennsylvania. George Murie gave it as Janie Carr and another record Conie Carr. He was living in Denver at the time his mother died (her obit).
