- Virginia, Births and Christenings, 1853-1917, available on FamilySearch.org, shows Young's date of birth as January 20, 1877, although that could have been his baptism. His family name as spelled "Ashcum".
According to the 1900 census, Parran D. Ashcom was living with his brother James S. Ashcom (age 38) and his sister Kate G. Ashcom (age 23) in Wicomico, Northumberland, Virginia in 1900.
According to the 1910 census, Young and his sister Katherine, were living in Saluda, Middlesex Co., Virginia in 1910.
According to his WW I Draft Registration Card (1918), Young's middle name was Parran. He and his wife Margaret were living in Sparrows Point, Baltimore, Maryland.
