- The following obituary was published on March 6, 1998 in the Orlando (Florida) Sentinel:
JOSEPH G. LOCKHART, 77, Pioneer Trail, New Smyrna Beach, died Wednesday, March 4. Mr. Lockhart was a retired electrician for Goodyear, Akron, Ohio, was employed by Owen's Brothers Terrazzo and worked in sales for Rinker-Quillain Concrete, both in New Smyrna Beach. He was the owner of West Pine Grocery Store and the West Pine Nursery, both in New Smyrna Beach. Born in Dayton, Pa., he moved to Central Florida in 1960. He was a Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3282, Port Orange, National Lodge 568 Free and Accepted Masons and New Smyrna Lodge 149 Free and Accepted Masons. Survivors: wife, Margaret; sons, Joseph G. Jr., Dothan, Ala., Frank, New Smyrna Beach; daughters, Marie Monett, Jacksonville, Sue Robinson, New Smyrna Beach; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach.
