- George appears to have married his second cousin. That this is the case is confirmed by (i) the 1900 census shows that he was married to Fannie, born June 1852 in Maryland, (ii) the middle name of their second child was Gardiner, and (iii) the middle name of their fourth child was Llewelyn, which was the name of Fannie's brother.
