- The following biography of the Sudaley family appeared in the archive section of the Meet our Members secion of the website of Young Israel of Century City (http://www.yicc.org/index1.htmlin) in 2008 (although it appears that the Sudaleys were no longer members as of 2008). Rabbi Sudaley was Director of Development at YICC starting in 2004. The YICC is a Modern Orthodox Minyan for the Beverly Hills-Beverlywood sections of Los Angeles. This Minyan is dedicated to the observance of Jewish Law while participating in and contributing to secular society, and committed to the philosophy of Religious Zionism.
ABOUT THE SUDALEYS
Rabbi Sudaley is originally from Teaneck, NJ. He studied at the Juilliard School of Music and received a degree in English and a Performance Degree in Music (cello) from Rutgers University. He also pursued graduate studies in music composition at NYU. He earned his Semicha from Aish HaTorah Jerusalem. He was Rabbi and Hillel Director of Penn State, Midwest Regional Director of NCSY, and has been an educator in our day schools in Los Angeles.
Rena is originally from Encino and Tarzana. She has an MFA in film production from USC, and won an Emmy award for directing her Graduate film, The Dream Machine. She taught film at USC, Penn State and at St. Louis Community College. In St. Louis, she worked for a CBS news affiliate. She recently made a career change, and is currently teaching at Palms Gifted Magnet school.
Rabbi and Mrs. Sudaley are blessed with 4 beautiful children: Avi, who attends 10th grade at YULA, Shana, 13, Eli, 11, and Rafi, 7, all attend Ohr Eliyahu. Avi is in AGT, and will be in the YULA play. Shana is very sociable and enjoys talking with her friends on the phone (naturally). Eli is a big history buff and loves to read. Rafi is into sports and enjoys playing keyboard. Some of their favorite activities include spending time with friends and family, playing baseball in the back yard, bike riding, playing music (Rabbi Sudaley is a pianist and a cellist), skiing, and doing comedy improv.
