Death Notice:
Jeanne Marie Helser, 80, of Sister Bay, passed away Saturday Aug. 11, 2007 at Scandia Village Care Center. Jeanne was born in Chicago, daughter of Marie (Philbin) & John Clancy and was raised in East Troy, WI with 3 brothers & a sister. She married Bernard Helser, funeral director, who proceeded her in death in 1987 after 37 years of marriage. Jeanne became a strong woman as a result of meeting significant challenges throughout her life. As a young child she suffered hearing loss which impacted her from then on. Shortly after having 6 children (the first five of them born in less than five years), her husband suffered a disabling stroke, requiring her to obtain her funeral director’s license while raising the children. In time she worked as a graphic artist for the State of WI. Jeanne is survived by her bothers, Lawrence (Nancy) Clancy of Mequon, WI, and David (Myra) Clancy of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sister Patricia Kertin of Placentia, CA and sister-in-law Sylvia Clancy of Boston, MA. She was preceded in death by her brother John Clancy & brother-in-law Robert Kertin. She is also survived by her six children; Greg (Carrie), San Francisco, CA; Nick Helser (Gail), Natick, MA; Richard Helser (Mickey), Moraga, CA; Chris (Dawn), Portage, WI; Tracy (Therese), Berkeley, CA; Natalie (Craig Neddersen), Ephraim, WI and 10 grandchildren. Legacy Funeral Services are handling arrangements. Funeral services will be held Wed. Aug. 15, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in East Troy; Visitation at 10-11:30am, Mass 11:30, with burial to follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers should be directed to Scandia Village, Sister Bay, WI. Our family is much indebted to the kindness shown to our mother throughout her years at Scandia Village from both staff & residents alike. Your everyday kindness made her life special: thank you for that.
