AUSTIN
JOHN T. "JACK," SR.
Chairman of the Board of James Austin Company in Mars, PA, died Wednesday evening at his home in Mars at the age of 86. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Harry G. and Mazie Teufel Austin. He graduated from Randolph-Macon Academy in 1944 and went into the Army after graduation and was discharged in 1945. He then began working for the family business, along with his brother, Harry, at James Austin Company. Jack was a past President of both the James Austin Company and Smaller Manufacturer's Council. He also served on the Board of Director of Penn-Mar Plaza for 10 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown. He was the loving husband of 62 years of Jean L. Anderson Austin, whom he married on July 2, 1949; beloved father of Lisa Austin (Greg) of Tarentum and John T. Austin (Carrie) of Mars; adoring grandfather of Ryan and Robbie Henderson and Jack and Lindsay Austin; dear brother of the late Harry G. Austin, Jr., Madeline Samarco of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., and Dr. James Austin of Salem, Mass; brother-in-law of Roseann Austin of Gibsonia; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the McDONALD- AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, INC., 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, PA on Sunday from 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, 5825 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, PA 15007 (724) 443-1555. Rev. Dan Muttart, pastor, Rev. Dr. Richard Morledge, pastor emeritus, and Rev. Donn Ed, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Etna, officiating. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church. Burial will be in the Bakerstown Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Hosanna Industries, 109 Rinard Lane, Rochester, PA 15074-2607 or to the Lighthouse, 1302 East Cruikshank Road, Butler, PA 16002-8920.
